Spreading Christmas Joy
30 Women from the Tuesday Morning Women’s Journey Group prepared Christmas stockings for 210 clients of Cass Community Social Services (CCSS). The group started the tradition 12 years ago when Judy Harnish presented the opportunity.
Practicing COVID social distancing guidelines, women signed up online to purchase items or send donations for the items in the stockings. The stockings were stuffed to the brim with items such as toiletries, lip balm, snacks, tissues, socks, gloves, small stuffed animals, games, and reading materials for men, women, teens, elementary and preschool children. Tony Kotwicki, driving a stocking-filled van, delivered the gifts to CCSS. Faith Fowler, dressed as Santa, will pass out the stockings on Christmas Eve.
Gwen Moore, a member of the Tuesday Women’s Journey Group, stated, “It means a great deal to be able to do a mission project and give back to the community. We love that it puts smiles on people’s faces.”
