The Baldwin Center has served the community of Pontiac, Michigan since 1981 and provides over 25 programs for the surrounding neighborhood.
We aid the Baldwin Center in their mission to feed, clothe, educate and empower the men, women and children of Pontiac. The Baldwin Center has over 25 different programs, including meals, a clothes closet, and after-school program, and a GED prep program. One of our team’s major efforts annually is the recruitment and selection of four college-age interns to work in Baldwin’s six-week summer enrichment program for grade school-aged children.
The Baldwin team provides various support activities throughout the year. Clothing for the clothes closet, for example, are gathered from the twice-annual rummage sales, or when a particular seasonal item is in short supply. Baldwin operates a Holiday Store where gifts can be obtained for families in need, and you can gather such gifts or work in the Store (Birmingham First’s Merry Mates can be found there!). Birmingham First’s Hunger Ministry is involved in serving meals from time to time. There are also opportunities to help tutor children in Baldwin’s after-school program.
