Easter and Holy Week

February 28 - March 29

Worship During Lent

Worship in the Christian Life Center – 9:30 a.m.
Worship at Berkley First – 10:00 a.m.

During Lent we will start with a three-week series, “Teach Us to Pray. We’ll explore how we pray. Where do we start? Thy Kingdom Come; Thy Will Be Done – What’s God’s will? How do prayer and action combine to experience the Kingdom that is now and not yet? And what about unanswered prayer? We will also explore forgiveness and the struggle with temptation. The series will compliment our Lenten study book, “Grounded in Prayer” by Jim Cowart, Jennifer Cowart, Jorge Acevedo and Matthew Hartsfield.

Starting March 22, we’re stretching Holy Week out over a month and giving one Sunday each to Palms, Passover, Passion, and Easter.

The Table at Berkley First
The first Thursday of each month, share in a meal, worship, and discussion from 6:00-7:30 p.m. March 5 will feature a focus on prayer, and on April 2 we will join in a traditional Passover Seder meal.

Worship During Lent in the Sanctuary

Worship in the Sanctuary, Sundays at 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m.

Lent begins with Jesus entering into the wilderness. In the wilderness, we have the opportunity to face our greatest challenges and thrive. Join us in the sanctuary this season as we explore some wilderness moments that can bring about growth like reclaiming identity in the midst of temptation, dealing with differences, unanswered prayer, forgiveness, walking in faith, and facing our fears.

6 Week Study

Lent Study

You are invited to join Birmingham and Berkley First for a Lent Journey Group as we follow a six-week study entitled Grounded in Prayer. The study helps us dig deeper into the meaning of the Lord’s Prayer as we grow in relationship with God and one another. Jesus used the Lord’s Prayer to teach his disciples about communicating with God. For centuries, Christians have prayed the Lord’s Prayer. What could the Lord’s Prayer teach us about living our faith in the world today? Classes will be centered around a DVD lesson and discussion. This is not a book study, so there is no book to purchase and advance reading is not required. A list of study groups and more information is available in the church office.

Lent Daily Devotion

Throughout Lent, from Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday, you will receive a daily devotional email from The Sanctuary for Lent 2020. If you do not receive Steeple Notes by email and would like to receive the devotionals, you may sign up here.
