Living Out Love! Transforming Lives! 2017 Stewardship Campaign

LIVING OUT LOVE!

Transforming Lives!

Living Out Love! Transforming Lives! That’s what we are about at Birmingham First and
Berkley First! Together, we exist to “gather, nurture, and equip disciples of Jesus Christ for ministry and mission in the world.” In our faithful giving, lives are transformed, including our own. As you consider your gifts to the church in the coming year, let’s dream together about the next transformation story we’ll hear.

Dear Friends,

Living Out Love! Transforming Lives! It’s not only the theme of our stewardship messages this year, but also a way of life for us at Birmingham First and Berkley First. We are committed to putting God’s love into action so that we might see lives transformed in our communities and around the world.
Several years ago now, my wife and I decided to practice the biblical principle of tithing, or giving ten percent of our income back to God. While it began as a rule that we agreed to follow, we have grown to experience the joy and blessing of living generously. The tithe was a starting point for us in our journey of discipleship that continues to transform our lives as we give.

Generosity is also a way of life for us at Birmingham First and Berkley First. An important step in generous living happens with a commitment to become a percentage giver. Whatever the percentage may be for you and your family, it begins a new way of living that changes your lives as well as the lives of many others who are impacted by your gifts through our ministry together.

Proverbs 11:25 (NRSV) states, “A generous person will be enriched, and one who gives water will get water.” Whether you are stepping towards tithing, are a dedicated tither, or have moved beyond the tithe, I know that you will be amazed at what God can do through us together as we begin to live generously.

As you prayerfully consider your financial commitment to God’s work through the ministries of our church in 2018, let’s continue to dream of the next life that may be transformed as we make God’s love real. What steps of faith may God be inviting us to take together? I invite you to bring your completed commitment card and join us in worship on Sunday, October 29, as we offer our commitments, our dreams, and our lives up to God.

Blessings,
Pastor Elbert
