All Church Advent Study
Starting December 1
Christmas is going to feel different for all of us this year; some might even call it an “almost Christmas.” Looking through the lens of John Wesley’s famous sermon “Almost Christian,” we will discover how to move from almost to altogether peace, hope, love, and joy this Christmas season. Pick up a copy of Almost Christmas: A Wesleyan Advent Experience to read on your own—or better yet, join one of the many study groups.
There are many ways to bring the Light of Christ into the advent season by participating in one of our many opportunities to make a child smile. From Angel Tree to Cass Community Social Services to the Methodist Children’s Home, you can help make a difference in a child’s Christmas.
The greatest display of Christmas lights Birmingham has ever seen! Our magnificent trees glowing with lights, themed villages of lighting displays spread over our lawn, photo stops for families to snap pictures…the light of Christ glowing on our front lawn for all to see and recordings of our choirs playing for all to hear!
Children in preschool through 5th grade are invited to be a part of a family Christmas Eve pageant video. There are mostly speaking parts to present the A-Z Christmas script. Non-speaking parts can be siblings who would like to perform without talking. Musical performers are also needed to sing Christmas carols (solo and/or as a family) and perform their musical instruments.
Shalom families everywhere! We are excited to announce a collaborative approach to serving families across two campuses! All newsletters, outreach opportunities, faith formation, and fun events will be communicated from your dedicated team of leaders from Children & Family Ministries at Birmingham First and Berkley First. Our efforts may look different in the future, but rest assured we want to empower families to grow in faith at home and in-person.
