Celebrating a Legacy

The Endowment Board is pleased to announce a new named fund, the Steven Wells Fund. Established through the generosity of Steve’s family, income from this Fund will support discipleship ministries (Christian Education) for children and youth. Steve, who was a long-time Sunday School teacher at Birmingham First, died last October at the age of 59. The many children who had Steve as their Sunday school teacher carry on Steve’s legacy of loving God and neighbor. With this gift, which Lisa, Steve’s wife, and their children (Bobby, Jessica, Jamie, Emily, and grandson, Finnian) celebrated on Father’s Day, Steve’s legacy will live on for generations to come.

We are grateful for the generosity of the Wells family, as well as the generosity of so many others which is expressed through planned giving. Our Annual Endowment Report, normally distributed at our April Endowment Dinner, was delayed this year. It is now scheduled for publication in early July. The report celebrates ministries supported through endowment funding and contains helpful information about opportunities for living generously through planned giving. Look for it soon!
