Bringing Hope to HOPE Shelters

Dear Bob and Hunger Committee,

Thank you for the fruits of your food drive and your faithful support of HOPE. Your support means that HOPE is there for guests like Juan. At the beginning of COVID, Juan lost his job as a forklift driver at an automotive parts plant and then he lost his apartment. He was sleeping in his car and occasionally at different shelters. During a period of time when he was sleeping in his car, he had a heart attack. He called 911 and EMS picked him up in the Meijer parking lot. He had open-heart surgery at the hospital. When he was ready to be discharged to home, his discharge nurse called HOPE’s Recuperative Care Center and he came to stay there. While he was recovering from his surgery, he was able to procure housing with the help of the case manager Kim. Juan is thrilled to have stable housing while he finishes the last part of his recovery.

Without your support, HOPE would not have been able to open and sustain this innovative program which has been copied across the country. Thank you once again.

Sincerely,
