Under the direction of our Angel Tree coordinator, Liz Rito, 498 angels received gifts this year! This is 150 more angels than last year. While in-person volunteers were limited due to the pandemic, there were 17 who helped prepare the gifts and food baskets for delivery and 50 volunteers help with deliveries.
For 1.7 million American children, Christmas is filled with the abandonment, loneliness, and shame that comes from having a mom or dad in prison. Through Angel Tree, Birmingham First finds ways to reach out to these children, by sharing Christ’s love with them at Christmas. Members purchase and deliver gifts in the name of the incarcerated parent to help bridge the gap that goes along with families torn apart.
“Oh my! There is so much food and wow…. Praise Bod and thank you. My grandchildren are going to have a good time with the delightful food choices.”
