2020 Summer Missions and Fun

Details

  • Open to children who have recently completed 3rd, 4th and 5th grades in the 2019-2020 school year.
  • Parents are welcome to volunteer and bring younger/older siblings to the event.
  • Families are responsible for all transportation to and from the event.
  • The maximum participation of children and adults will be limited to the state of Michigan’s phases for reopening safely. Plans can be adjusted to accommodate the number of people volunteering indoors at a time; We will break up into smaller groups and rotate between stations if needed.
  • Health survey and temperature checks will be required to participate at the start of each event; Masks are required to enter Birmingham First.
  • Gloves, masks, and hand sanitizer will be available.
  • 45C Orange event t-shirt encouraged to be worn, but not required. $12 to purchase a t-shirt.
  • Registered participants will be emailed 24 hours prior to the event the details regarding each mission day or fun event.

Medical Release Form is required by all participating children (these are updated each calendar year).

All adult chaperones must have a  Background Check (Permission to Obtain) on file (these are updated every 5 years).

All paperwork can be scanned and email to Kim at kbowyer@fumcbirmingham.org, or can be mailed to Kim Bowyer at 32773 Haverford Rd, Franklin, MI 48025, no later than July 14.

Outdoor Fun at TreeRunner Adventure Park
1-4:30 p.m.

$30 per child

Minimum of 10 registered children required to host the event

Indoors and outdoors at Birmingham First
Assemble 100 backpacks with school supplies
An optional picnic at a local park after mission work is open to families

Noah‘s Lunch Progam Mission Project
9-11:30 a.m.
Indoors and outdoors at Birmingham First
Assemble 300 sack lunches for the Noah Project at Central UMC

Outdoors at the Scott Building
Landscape tasks -Bring your own gardening tools & gloves, (some supplies will be provided)

Wednesday, Aug 26
Fun on Belle Isle, Detroit
10-2 p.m.
Gather at the playground, easy hike, bring picnic lunch, and swim at the beach. An adult chaperone must accompany children to this outing.
State Park entry fee is $9 for a day pass or $31 for an annual pass per vehicle.
