Welcome Hope Ledbetter – Duke Seminary Summer Intern

Duke intern hope cafe_edited-1 2002, our congregation has welcomed a seminary intern from Duke Divinity School each summer to learn and serve alongside our church and community. This year we are blessed to have Hope Ledbetter serve with us! Hope is a native of Raleigh, NC, and grew up at Edenton Street UMC. She just completed her first year at Duke Divinity School, where she is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree.

Hope is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied Psychology and Environmental Studies. This past summer Hope worked at her home church as they launched Southeast Raleigh Table, their newest site. During her time at the University of North Carolina, she interned in youth ministry and served as an Interim Youth Director at Christ UMC. Hope also served as a Co-President and Spiritual Growth Chair of UNC Wesley Campus Ministry, and as a Pastoral Intern at Wesley Memorial UMC. She also spent a summer learning about international development work in Busia, Uganda, where she volunteered with a primary school and orphanage.

This summer Hope will be busy serving at our Birmingham Campus, Berkley Campus, and at Cass Community Social Services in Detroit. Hope will have an opportunity to preach, teach a Bible study class, and get to know our congregation by participating in our many ministries. Please join us in worship this Sunday as we welcome our seminary intern, Hope!
