Sanctuary Renovations and Organ Replacement: Photos April 11-15, 2005 - Part 5

All the pews have been unloaded and we are ready for reassembly.

First the seat in placed in the vertical position in the
assembly fixture and the back is placed in the
top position. Then they are screwed together.

Next the two end pieces, each of which have cutouts matching the contour of the seat and back, are installed and screwed in place.

The opposite end being installed.

Installation of the center support .

A trim piece is stapled in place on each side of each support piece.

One of the two intermediate support pieces installed
between the center support and each end piece.

The rack which holds offering envelopes,
Bibles, and hymnals is installed.

Installation of the second intermediate support piece.

"Dollies" are put in place at each end of the pew as it rests on the assembly fixture.

The pew is "rolled" off the assembly fixture
onto the "dolly" for rolling into place in the sanctuary.

And AWAY WE GO!

Remove the pew from the "dolly" and place in position to attach the duct or "elbow" that covers the supply air hole from the air supply tunnel under the floor to the register in the outside end of the pew.

Attach the duct.

Finally, reinstall the air return "mushroom" under the center aisle end of the pew; this "mushroom" covers the hole in the floor leading to the center air return tunnel under the sanctuary.

Three reassembled pews in place.

Most of the pews in the west side of the sanctuary
have now been reinstalled - quite a week!
