Sanctuary Renovations and Organ Replacement: Photos April 11-15, 2005 - Part 1

Protecting the registers with plastic sheets and duct tape before power washing the windows and washing and bleaching the limestone pieces on the wall.

The floors of the side aisles have intentionally been left uncovered; the water from the washing is immediately vacuumed up to keep it from getting onto the new floor covering under the pews.

A better view of the brushing needed to clean the limestone.

Power washing (lightly) the stained glass windows.
You should have seen the dirt that came off!.

More washing.

More brushing.

Bringing the lift around the front of the church to position it to power wash the east side wall before sealing that wall. The plywood sheets were used to protect the lawn from the track of the lift.

The first test of washing and then bleaching the limestone
on the east side of the sanctuary.

Three photos of some very poor old electrical routing
that has been removed as part of the renovations!

Start of the refinishing of the altar on-site. First the existing varnish
is stripped, then the surfaces sanded before staining and
refinishing. New accent lights will better highlight the altar.

The glaziers continue installing new protective glass
over the stained glass windows.

The new folding partitions that will separate the narthex
from the sanctuary arrive in two 1,000 pound crates.

Put the crate up on edge on a "dolly" for unloading.

Thank goodness for a power lift gate on the trailer.

Wheel the crate off the lift gate and ...

... through the construction gate to the front parking area.

Check them out for any transportation damage and sign the freight bill.
