CAMP LAEL
Important Information for Campers

GENERAL RULES

  1. All campers are expected to participate in every phase of the Camp Program.
  2. Campers are expected to be quiet in their cabins after lights out.
  3. Boys and girls should stay out of cabins other than their own, unless by the invitation of, and in the presence of, the cabin counselor.
  4. NEVER leave camp for a hike, or for any other reason, without first reporting to the counselor where you are going and with whom.  NO CAMPER SHOULD EVER HIKE ALONE!!!
  5. Out-going mail should be in the mailbox outside of the Dining Hall by lunch-time.  In-coming mail will be distributed daily after dinner.
  6. No campers or counselors are allowed in the kitchen area.  Staff can be in there ONLY if you have been asked to help.
  7. Campers are not allowed to carry knives while at camp.  The Camp Director will be happy to fold your knife for you in a safe place while you are at camp.
  8. Shaving cream and silly string will no be allowed as a recreational device at Lael.  They remove paint from buildings, shingled roofs, and automobiles, as well as causing eye injuries.  We will NOT allow it!

BUILDINGS AND EQUIPMENT

  1. Please do not destroy any property or equipment.  Do not write on cabin walls, mattresses, or any other camp property.
  2. ANY DAMAGE, other than normal wear, must be paid for by the person causing the damage.
  3. The telephone is for camp business and staff use only.  In emergency situations, campers may use the phone, but only with the permission of the Resident Director or his designee.  ALL CALLS must be made collect or with a calling card.

APPAREL

  1. Please wear shoes at all times.
  2. Bathing suits are appropriate for swimming, boating, and water games, but not for other activities.

CAMP CLEANLINESS

  1. For cleanup, every camper is expected to help with his/her assigned details each day.
  2. Please keep the grounds free of any garbage.
  3. All trash is to be placed in the proper barrel, and recyclables in their barrel.
  4. Our septic systems will no handle anything other than toilet paper.  Please do not add other things.
  5. The Camp Health Officer is at your service in case of accidents, illness, or other first-aid assistance.

WATER SAFETY

  1. Everyone must wear something on his/her feet while walking down to the waterfront.  No shoes should be worn on the dock.
  2. No running, diving, or jumping on the dock.  No one should swim under the dock.
  3. There will be a scheduled time for the waterfront to be opened each day.  ALL SWIMMERS MUST OBEY THE WATERFRONT STAFF AND SWIM BY THEIR RULES!  They are using the rules set up by the American Red Cross for your safety.
  4. Always ask before using the boat, canoes, paddle-boats, of kayaks.  EVERYONE USING A BOAT OF ANY KIND MUST WEAR A FASTENED LIFE JACKET.
