Sunday 9:30 AM Classes

Faith Builders – This small group of friends is looking for new members desiring to share their faith. Our study centers around the Bible, both Old and New Testaments. We enjoy a lively discussion among diverse members with a wide range of beliefs. Teaching responsibility is shared. We encourage your participation as teacher, participant, or cook for several breakfasts and social gatherings during the year.  Class meets September 13 through June 12, 2016.

Meaning and Significance of Infant Baptism – This is a preparatory class for parents of children who are being baptized. Taught one Sunday a month by clergy and lay staff, the class provides information about the United Methodist Church’s tradition of infant baptism, as well as specifics about our church’s service. Parents of Adolescents – Parenting teenagers is a joy, and sometimes a challenge, too. Where can you turn for advice, support, and fellowship? This class! Join us at any time during the school year, September 13 through June 12, 2016.

Contemporary Study – This study discusses current and contemporary topics that affect adults in today’s world. Relevant studies to enhance and strengthen your faith will be utilized. You are welcome to attend any or all Sundays. Class begins September 13 and meets all year round.

Covenant Bible Study – Join Pastor Suzanne Walls for this 24-week study that takes disciples on a spiritual journey, resulting in a deeper relationship with God, a greater knowledge of the Bible, and closer relationships with church friends. If you’re new to Bible study or if you’re a seasoned professional, there is a space for you! Participants enjoy class on Sunday morning and read Scripture passages throughout the week. To gain the most from Covenant Bible Study, plan about 2 hours of reading at home each week. Class begins September 27. Sunday 11:00 AM Classes

Sunday Scholar – We examine how scholars have dealt with and continue to deal with religious issues and religious subjects. We begin the fall with a lecture series on The World of Biblical Israel: What was it like to live in King David’s time? Facilitators for this study are Barbara Timm, Roger Timm, and Bob Pierce. Class meets September 13 through May 22, 2016.

Weekday Adult Study Groups and Classes

Looking for ways to feed your mind and spirit for a meaningful and fulfilling life? These groups offer Bible and book studies.

Arbon Dennis Men’s Group – All men are welcome to join this group any Wednesday from 6:15-7:30 AM in the Thomas Parlor #150. Led by Rev. Gary Haller, the time includes sharing of prayer concerns and conversation over a current book.

Christian Classic Book Club Join Beverly Hannett-Price, award-winning English and Humanities teacher at Detroit Country Day School, for a monthly discussion of great books from a theological perspective. The class meets from 7:00-8:30 PM on the first Wednesday of each month, September through June. There is a one-time $10 fee.

Men’s Bible Study – Men of all ages are welcome to join us on Wednesdays at 8:00 PM for an in-depth, lively, and practical discussion of the Bible. Our topics and format change several times a year.  Our goal is to explore what scripture tells us about how to live Christ-centered lives. Led by Dale Glick, this class meets September 14 through May 9, 2016.

Monday Night Bible Study web buttonMonday Night Bible Study – This study emphasizes the biblical concept of covenant as a unifying pattern through all the books of the bible, underscoring the unique relationship God chooses to have with us as God’s people. Sisters – As sisters in Christ, we come together to explore and question our faith in a nurturing environment, using a variety of reading materials. Women of all ages are welcome to join us on Wednesdays in the Ritter Room #217 from 12:30-2:00 PM, September 16 – May 25, 2016.

Tuesday Morning Men’s Group – This drop-in group is a great place for dads and other young men to connect with each other. Join us on Tuesday mornings from 6:30-7:30 for coffee, donuts, and conversation to go along with prayer and time in the Word. Facilitated by Dan Hubert and Todd Albery.

Tuesday morning women studyTuesday Morning Women’s Study Rev. Laurie Haller leads this book study.  The group meets on Tuesday at 9:30 AM. We are currently reading “Recess” by Rev. Lauri Haller. This is a wonderful group for prayer, fellowship, and study. All women are invited to attend. No registration needed. Just come!

Unfinished Christian Women – Our group is comprised of single and married women ages 45 and up…mostly up! Because most of our members work full time and we all have many responsibilities, we changed the format of our class time from a book study to a different subject each week. Thursdays, starting September 17 from 7:30- 9:00 PM. 

Women @ One – This daytime women’s book study group is devoted to building friendships, sharing life’s journey, and holding one another in prayer. Join us on the third Tuesday of each month from 12:30-2:30 PM in Room #216. Facilitated by Sheila Potter and Mary Ann Laimbeer.

Word for Working Women – Designed around the needs of working women, this group meets Wednesday mornings starting September 16th from 7:30-8:30 in the Upper Room #206 for book studies, Bible studies and videos. Facilitated by Janet Hucke.

Women of the Word (WOW) – 2016-2017 course is “Wise Living” and “Wise Answers,” the study of Proverbs, Song of Solomon, Job and Ecclesiastes. This group meets Tuesdays at 10:00 AM, followed at 11:00 by a 30-minute DVD lecture. WOW is open to women of all ages and faiths. Child care is offered for class members. Participants may join at any time.


Young Adult Study – Young adults in their 20’s and 30’s are invited to join a new young adult group that meets at Pastor Lindsey’s house for dinner, fellowship, and study. The group meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Contact Lindsey for more information.
