Express Bus

The Endowment Fund, together with an Endowment Fund
Trustee donor gift of $20,000 for naming rights, purchased a 24-passenger
bus. The donor named the bus the Endowment Express.
The Endowment
Express greatly increases the number
of church activities which can be undertaken as a group. Among the
first activities which enjoyed the Endowment Express were an outing
of members of Charlie's Angels to the Imax Theatre and a group of
church members who went to the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea to
see "Rain Maker" and then toured the grounds of the Methodist Retirement
Center.
Our first overnight trip saw Rev. Rodney Quainton
lead a trip to Chicago with Larry Price the driver and June McGregor
handling reservations. The group visited the Chicago Art Museum
Friday afternoon and Garrett Evangelical Seminary in the evening
where a warm welcome and delicious dinner was enjoyed. Saturday
dinner was at Fisherman's Wharf, followed by "Richard II" at the
Shakespearean Theatre. Sunday morning it was brunch at The House
of Blues before starting back. A great trip blessed by good weather
and fellowship!
The Endowment Express is now being used for our
Endowment Express Excursions
and other trips. To reserve
the Endowment Express for a church outing, please contact the church
office at 248-646-1200 or office@fumcbirmingham.org.
We are
currently looking for more church members interested in earning
a Commercial Driver's License to be able to drive the Endowment Express
on other outings. If you are interested, please contact Janet Smylie
at 248-646-6407 ext 3121 or via e-mail at office@fumcbirmingham.org.
