Four years after the Endowment Fund was established, we reached
the milestone of a $1,000,000 balance in the Fund. To thank
the congregation for its generous support, on June 1, 2000,
the Endowment Fund Trustees sponsored a special evening called
"Thanks a Million". The evening featured a lecture
by motivational speaker Mort Crim followed by a reception
and book signing.
In the May 28, 2000, issue of Steeple Notes, Dr. Ritter
had this to say about Mr. Crim:
What can I say? The man's a sage. For years, I couldn't
go to bed until I'd heard his slant on the world at 11:00.
Now that he's retired, I retire earlier (and read with the
light on). But I keep reading his stuff in the newspaper ...
finding it to be as good as ever. And when Mort and I worked
together on a high-powered seminar discussing Ethics and the
Media, I had fresh reason to give thanks for this committed
Christian and the role he plays in public life. He'll speak
this Thursday, June 1, at 7:00 in the sanctuary. No charge
(thanks to the Endowment Fund). No pitch, either. But a scrumptious
reception to follow ... and book signing, too. Don't miss
it.
