Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you
to give the reason for the hope that you have.
But do this with gentleness and respect.”

FaithWeaver lesson for April
20
The Bible tells us
about a man named Stephen, who loved God and always was ready to
tell people about Jesus. Stephen was a man who wasn’t afraid to do
what was right, even when lots of other people were against him.
There were some people who became very angry at Stephen for talking
about Jesus. They had Stephen arrested and taken to the officials at
the temple, called the Sanhedrin. The Sanhedrin questioned him
about God. Stephen answered all their questions but then he said
that the Sanhedrin were wrong not to believe in Jesus. He said they
were stubborn and rebellious against God because they did not accept
Jesus as God’s Son. The Sanhedrin became angry and accused him of
blasphemy because they thought his beliefs were wrong. The people
threw big stones at Stephen and hurt him. Stephen knew he was going
to die but he didn’t forget Jesus. Like Jesus, with his last breath
he forgave the people who hurt him. Sometimes people who follow
Jesus get in trouble because of their beliefs. But if we have faith
and ask God for help, God will give us courage to say and do the
right thing.

Bring in your Habitat donations April 20
If you have been collecting money for Habitat for Humanity in a
“House
bank” bring it to church on Sunday,
April 20. The donations will go to help build the Habitat house
First Church will work on this summer. This will be the 10th
Habitat for Humanity house that our church has helped to build.
Also the
bidding on the children’s playhouse (have you seen it out in the
church parking lot?) comes to a close at 1:00 pm on April 20. Check
out the Multiply Your Talents craft fair in Fellowship Hall to place
your bids on the playhouse and other items. Money raised from the
fair will go toward the Habitat for Humanity building project.

BISHOP’S SEAT COVER PROJECT
Bishop Keaton of
the Detroit Annual Conference is asking for donations of “seat
covers” (underwear) for children and youth. We are collecting NEW
underwear which will be taken to the Detroit Annual Conference
meeting in May. They will be distributed to various locations
throughout Michigan. Bring your donations to church and let’s see
how many seats we can cover!

JUBILEE PROJECT WORK CAMP FOR Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Graders

something really special this summer? Sign up for the Kids’ Mission
trip to Sneedville, Tennessee, July 16-19. You will travel by bus

projects to help the people there. It is a wonderful opportunity
for young people to learn what it is like to work in the mission
field--and to swim in an old-fashioned swimming hole! This will be
our fourth trip to Sneedville. Pick up a registration brochure
outside the Children’s Ministry Office. For information contact Jan
Mistele at 248 646 6407 ext. 3131.

items to bring to United Methodist Women’s Rummage Sale. The church
