Welcome to the Family!

WELCOME to a new year at First Church!  We hope that you will want to be a part of all that we have planned for kids and families and that you will invite your friends to come with you.  We are excited about our schedule of activities and events, from Sunday School and weekday programs to special events throughout the year. A great bunch of volunteers have signed on to make things fun for all.

Being sorry, being forgiven
FaithWeaver lesson for September 16

The Old Testament tells about King David, whom God chose to be the king of Israel.  David was a good man who loved God. He was a great king who usually acted in kind ways and made wise decisions. But even David made mistakes and did some things that were wrong in God’s eyes.  David fell in love with a woman who was married to a soldier named Uriah.  David ordered the woman’s husband to be sent to a dangerous position on the battlefield, where he was killed.  David then married the soldier’s widow. A prophet  named Nathan told King David that God had told him what he had done and that God was displeased with him.  He told David a story that made David realize that it was wrong to hurt someone to get his own way.   David admitted that he had been wrong and told God that he was sorry--and God forgave David.  The Bible tells us over and over that if we confess--if we are truly sorry and talk to God about the wrong things we do--God will forgive us.  Whatever mistakes we make, whenever we make a mess of our lives, if we are truly sorry, God always will forgive us and we can have a fresh start.  What a wonderful thing it is to know that God loves us so much that he forgives us for the bad things we do.

Get involved!

Watch for notices about upcoming activities.  The Sunday newsletter, KidLink, appears on the church website as well.  Steeple Notes and flyers are other ways to find out what’s going on.  If you’re not already part of a choir, now is a good time to start!  Choirs for kids meet Thursday afternoons, plus you can stay for Kidz Club and even have dinner at PJs Diner.  We have Bible clubs for kids on Tuesday nights. And be sure to make Sunday School a regular part of your week, at either 9:30, 11:00 or 5:00 pm!  And bring your friends, too!
