Join Covenant Choir
A wonderful way for a youngster in the 4th or 5th grades to serve God and the Church is by singing in choir. The Music Ministry of our church provides instruction to this age group that stresses music, worship, teamwork, responsibility, and service. The goal of this choir is to develop singing abilities, develop music reading skills, give singers exposure to many different styles of music suitable to their age, and challenge their spiritual awareness through worship.
This choir practices on Thursdays from 4:15pm until 5:00pm from Labor Day through Mother's
Day, excluding Birmingham Public School holidays.. The only admission requirement is a willingness to try your best. A good foundation now pays off in life long results. In order to have a quality choir, parental support is essential.
There are several important areas in which parents can make a substantial impact on the success of Covenant Choir. They are:
- Having your singer at practice on time
- Making every effort to have your singer be present on "Singing Sundays."
- Giving supporting comments to your singer, other singers, and parents.
Singers should keep in mind that, unlike most other organizations, singing in choir is our offering to God. Even though there are "performance" aspects to choir, it is first and foremost service to the church.
There are many extra events which make choir even more enjoyable. They include Festivals with other choirs, participating in Christmas programs, a musical drama in the spring, and Choir Camp in August.
Please contact the Music Ministry staff for more information about this choir.
