Interfaith Thanksgiving Services

We invite you to participate in either of two wonderful interfaith Thanksgiving worship opportunities - one a group of Christians gathering in our neighborhood and one people from a wide variety of faiths around the metro Detroit area gathering to share this most American of holidays.

• 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 21
  
  Join Protestants and Catholics from our area at St. Owen Church, 6869 Franklin Road (south of Maple Road) in Bloomfield Hills.
  
  This service is sponsored by the Northwest Ministerial Association.
  

• 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 21
  
  Join Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Baha'is, and Native Americans for a Thanksgiving service of prayer and music. The service will be held at the Sikh temple at 40600 Schoolcraft Road near Haggerty in Plymouth. This service joins hands with Gleaners Community Food Bank to feed thousands of hungry children in our area, so you are encouraged to bring cans of food or make a contribution during the service.

The flyer indicates that people traditionally sit on the floor during the service; it is not mentioned in the flyer but chairs are also available for those who prefer them.
  
  This service is sponsored by the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion. Dr. Daniel Krichbaum, a member of our congregation, is the Executive Director of the Michigan Roundtable.

Members of First Church who have participated in these services in the past have found them to be deeply moving experiences and a wonderful beginning for the Thanksgiving celebration.
