"Gift of the Heart" School Kits for the Children of Afghanistan
In the fall of 2004, we collected supplies to help prepare children in central Afghanistan for a new school year. Members of our church donated school kits and money to complete the kits.
The congregation responded wonderfully to this project. We collected 100 complete school kits, many in terrific tote bags. We also collected $364 that paid for (1) the completion of partial kits, (2) the necessary tote bags, and (3) the mailing costs. With these generous contributions, we were able to give an important gift to 125 Afghanistan children who have never attended school and would not have these important items to help them get started.
