Accomplishments
In 2005 the VIM (Volunteers in Mission) team worked at the Methodist Christian Help Center in Horni Pocernice, a suburb of Prague. These are some of the team's accomplishments:
Inside Work
1. Completed wood paneling in front hallway leading to dining room and offices.
2. Applied stain and finish to paneling.
3. Purchased and assembled furniture for 3 client rooms.
Each room included wardrobe, dresser, wall cabinet, table, two chairs, lamp, mirror, waste basket, and rug.
4. Purchased new entry door for front hallway.
5. Painted walls and ceiling of main client living room in building “A."
6. Purchased new area rug for living room.
7. Remodeled kitchen prep room, painted, and added protective plastic back splash.
Outside work
1. Mowed and raked soccer field in preparation for children's day programs.
2. Cut grass and cleaned yard around center.
3. Worked on gardens in front of church and around center grounds.
People projects
1. Ran crafts night for clients' children.
2. Had daily craft activities for clients' children.
3. Helped with day activities for children, including clients and community.
4. Held baby shower for Sarka and David.
5. Hosted “Thanksgiving party” for center staff and friends.
6. Met in Director’s flat and gave gifts to families.
7. Met with pastor of downtown Prague UMC to consider possible youth exchange.
8. Visited antique village to see life in the middle ages.
9. Took river boat dinner trip.
10. Attended “Miss Saigon” play in
the Czech language.
