2001 Mission Trip
Preparation
Jim and Bev Miller traveled to Prague, Czech Republic, to evaluate the place where a Volunteer In Mission team would be working and staying for the trip planned for June 2001. Two of our goals were to see first hand the project and to meet some of the people we would be living and working with for a two-week trip.

The Volunteers in Mission Trip
In June of 2001 the Volunteers in Mission team worked in and stayed in Prague 9 in an area where the Czech Methodist Church has a “Christian Help Center” and short term housing facility for needy families. Please see the maps for Prague below.

Work Accomplished During This Trip
- Replaced old interior doors in building "C"
- Parkland adaptation and landscaping
- Painted main gate and terrace
- Painted rooms for senior center
- Purchased landscaping equipment
- Painted north wall of castle
- Erected Cross and Flame on the front of the church
- Purchased and assembled 15 beds for shelter, installing 13 in rooms
- Purchased 15 solid doors for residents rooms.
- Installed locks and handles on new doors
- Installed 14 doors on living quarter rooms in building
- Purchased new walking tractor for weed, brush, grass and snow removal
- Used new tractor to clear and mow grounds
- Purchased shrubs and plantings for front of castle, according to landscaping plan
- Prepared ground and planted shrubs and bushes, adding peat moss and bark mulch
- Trimmed existing hedges, trees and bushes as needed
- Planted donated plants and flowers on church and center grounds
- Designed and painted 6 foot tall cross and flame on front of Methodist Church
- Painted metal fences and gates with rust resistant paint
- Primed classroom for painting
- Paint / stained wooden fence parts for front church wall
- Paid for reconstruction of front church concrete wall / fence
- Delivered donated clothing for center
- Painted, two color, 200 foot long concrete wall, 4 coats
- Help lead childrens program
- Help lead 2 Sunday worship services, one including communion
- Participated in clients meeting distributing toiletries
- Purchased CD player for church
- Purchased coffee pot for use in center and church
- Purchased battery powered drill motor
- Met with Superintendent Cervenak at Prague 2 central church, and left some money to help with church organ repair
