Worship is God-centered praise and adoration. The church's worship service is one way that people learn what it means to be Christian
We include children in our congregational worship because they belong to Christ and are welcomed in God's church. Children need to experience worship so that they will learn how to become part of the community of faith.
When you bring children to the worship service, arrive early enough to find a good place to sit. Sit where younger children can clearly see the chancel. A number of families with small children enjoy the view from the balcony in our church. Some find that children are more attentive when they sit in one of the front pews.
Allow your child to bring a favorite stuffed animal or Bible storybook along.
For children who attend worship services with their families in the Sanctuary, special "Quiet Time Worship Packets" are available in the Narthex.
Clue your child about what will happen next in worship. They like to be ready. Children who can read will want to find the hymns and look up the Scripture lesson in a Bible.
At home, discuss worship to prepare children for changes in the routine, such as a baptism or other special feature. Also, take time to answer questions about worship experiences.
Children's Chapel during the 9:30 Sunday School hour teaches children Christian songs and about the elements of worship.
Children at 11:00 Sunday School hour are invited to attend the first few minutes of the hour in worship with the congregation in the Sanctuary. Following the Pastor's Time with the Children, they will be dismissed to their classes.
Children at the 5:00 p.m Sunday Night Alive service begin in the worship service and are dismissed to classes following the Children's Moment.
Children's choirs for kindergarten through grade 12 and the Acolyte program for grades 4 and up are opportunities for children to provide leadership in the worship service.
