Pentecost 2000

Releasing our balloons in celebration of the Church's birthday

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.

Acts 2:1-4

Paul and Dottie Metzler

As has been our custom, we will observe Pentecost with all the biblically-appropriate pizzazz. Balloons, yes. Brass, yes. Birthday cake, yes. Along with new members, old hymns and a surprise or two along the way. We also encourage you to dig deep in your closet to find as much red as possible. ... Think about how good it will make us look, collectively. The color, of course, is derived from those infamous "tongues of flame" said to have rested upon the heads of the disciples on the day when the followers of Jesus Christ found themselves "fired up."
