Make a Difference Day 2002

Building a Sure Foundation in our Community

Dateline: Pontiac, MI. A veritable hurricane of activity occurred in this community on Saturday, October 12! More than 125 individuals from FUMC Birmingham descended on the Baldwin Church and Center to participate in a "Make a Difference Day," putting a complete new face on the facilities and the grounds. The "before and after" photos show a remarkable transformation that will be cherished by all who benefit from this wonderful institution.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in this event! To those who painted every room and hallway in the nursery school, washed toys and desks and cleaned rugs, or those who weeded, restructured, planted, pruned, removed shrubs and trees, and spread 30 cubic yards of wood chips, creating virtually new playgrounds, or those who repaired or removed the old and added new siding, new walls, a new porch, a new entryway, a new roof and gutters, or those who helped plan, donated money, brought donuts and beverages, made lunches and snacks, and those who worked until the following Tuesday finishing the more difficult construction projects (Tom Russell, Jon Skinner, Donald Walker, Larry Walker and Bob White) and, of course, to those of you who prayed - to everyone who contributed in one of a thousand ways, thank you, thank you.

From the November 3, 2002, Steeple Notes

"Make a Difference Day" at Baldwin Church and Center was part of our celebration of the 50th year of our sanctuary.
